Dammon Dean Academic Year 2022 Accepted Digital Humanities, Shakespeare, history, cartography, computer graphics animation This multimedia project has 3 objectives: 1) to build a detailed GIS map of Shakespeare's London, featuring five major playhouses and their neighborhoods; 2) to establish a system of geo-referencing that integrates scholarly description and primary source material into the GIS map; 3) to create 3-D virtual reality models of London theaters and other key performance spaces. Prof. White is the PI for an NEH Collaborative grant application supporting the further development of this project to be submitted December 1, 2022. The plan is for the website, with its server based at Purdue, to be made public as an interactive learning and research tool. Paul W White Paul W White Students engage in the collection of data relating to major landmarks, jurisdictional boundaries (parishes, city wards and manorial courts) and cites of performance. Those with coding experience will help design and populate the mapping, embedding hyperlinks, assist with creation of three-dimensional models. 1) See the mapping for the The Rose Playhouse neighborhood by my colleague at Records of Early English Drama: https://ereed.library.utoronto.ca/collections/rosep/. I am completing a records collection in the same series for The Fortune Playhouse.
