Project Big Higgs Digs Sig Figs Program Margo Katherine Wilke Undergraduate Research Internship Program Term Fall 2024 Status Pending Research Area Particle Physics Description We will provide an overview of the research done at the LHC in Switzerland, specifically on the discovery of the Higgs Boson, and how we as undergraduate students with our TA and Professor were able to rediscover the Higgs Boson through data provided by the LHC in the public domain. We will discuss our data analysis methods, the expectations in results, and the final results we obtained from our independent analysis. Supervisor Cadance William Lucas Ormsby Mentor Type of work required We reconfirm that it is not only possible but expected mass of the Higgs Boson can be found just through the data that exists online about the decay products of the Higgs; it is through independent analysis of these data that we're able to come up with similar results for the mass of the Higgs Boson using Standard Model Theory.
