Since the beginning of the month, email communications have been directed to those with business support and department support roles. The communications pointed to the following items:

Business Support

Business support roles are assigned to business office positions that will perform or assist with human resource-related and payroll-related processes and tasks. Those with payroll task responsibilities were invited to attend:

  • a two-part session led by Linda Baer and representatives from Payroll. The session walked through an overview of the payroll process
  • an online course demonstrating terminations in the system along with Quick Reference Guides covering terminations and all other employee data changes
  • open labs focused on answering questions and providing an opportunity to practice tasks related to payroll and employee data changes
Department Support

The department support role bundles position management, recruitment process and onboarding coordination. Department support roles are assigned to administrative positions such as secretaries, administrative assistants, etc. within the department. The following information was provided through email communications:

  • an online course which demonstrated how to create a position, accompanied by Quick Reference Guides
  • links to Quick Reference Guides and Work Instruction Videos for onboarding coordinator tasks; and
  • an invitation to those currently hiring faculty positions to attend an instructor-led session prior to January for hands-on experience with the process
Supervisors

Yesterday, supervisors also received an email outlining available training. Supervisors have a similar role bundle to Department Support, allowing them to create or edit positions, recruit and onboard new hires. As a supervisor, they will also approve their employees’ time and time off, as applicable. An email next week will outline those resources.
