The following questions were raised during recent engagement sessions:

Will I have to use the recruiting tool every time our graduate students move from Teaching Assistants (TA) to Research Assistants (RA)?  Sometimes they move every semester between the positions, often reporting to a different department.

The graduate student will be hired through SuccessFactors for their first position. Similar to today, departments will notify the business office when the graduate student transitions from TA to RA. The business office will be able to work with Payroll to update the system accordingly without the graduate student and supervisor needing to repeat the hiring process.

Will I hire non-Purdue employees through the SuccessFactors recruitment process?

Non-Purdue employee positions, such as visiting scholars or fellowships not handled as assistantships, will continue to utilize the “direct hire” process that is used today. SuccessFactors will not be used for these positions. Similar to today, supervisors/managers will notify the business office of the non-employee position and other required information. The business office will work with Payroll to update the system.
