Simplified General Ledger Structure Deployed July 2017

In preparation for the General Ledger (Finance) transformation scheduled for implementation in July 2018, all account structures have been reviewed. The new report hierarchy for fiscal year 2017-2018 has been approved. The hierarchy, as shown below, will be utilized for budget and reporting.

The simplified general ledger structure reduces the current number of accounts from 2,700 to less than 1,500. Each account will have a definition to help users identify the best account for their business purpose. The streamlined structure will reduce opportunity for error while increasing consistent use of general ledger accounts, which ultimately make financial reporting easier. The general ledger account has a 1:1 relationship with commitment items, and users who utilize commitment items for transactions will see the updated listing. A General Ledger List and Descriptions is available on this web page until uploaded in SAP. Once uploaded in SAP, the draft list will be removed and users are encouraged to use the Commitment Item Hierarchy standard report to review the most current list updated in SAP.
