Examples of the redesigned processes – created during design phase based on feedback received – being built and tested with new SAP functionality include: 

  • Expanded materials management functionality
  • Streamlined work order processing, including:
    • Mobile functionality (i-Pad)
    • Integrated functionality
  • Strategic maintenance planning
    • Preventive maintenance abilities

(The maintenance work stream is specific to the West Lafayette campus only and does not impact the regional campuses.)

Testing starts with the initial project team and then extends to subject matter experts. Business scenarios are created and used in order to validate the new processes and SAP functionality. Business scenarios reflect the actual work task, such as purchasing a piece of equipment for repair or maintenance or completing a work order.


Starts September 2017

Train-the-Trainer concept will be utilized with deployment. Trainers are often subject matter experts and key testers with the new processes and system. This allows are local ‘trainers’ to be trained by our project partner, Vesta. Vesta will assist with initial training and help our trainers be successful.  

Training is role-based. In other words, training will be organized according to the work or tasks that need to be completed. For example, if you complete work orders today, you will attend a training session on how to process work orders through SAP functionality.
