It is important for finance staff to understand what each element represents, how elements are classified and are used within the structure. Three decision trees, Funded Program Type, Department Account Classification and Faculty Allocation Nodes help the requestor or creator of the internal order\/work breakdown structure identify the best fit. The&nbsp;Introduction to Master Data training in Success Factors LMS (Learning Management System) outlines the below information and provides a resource documentation that lists funded program types, defines department account classification and institutional grouping, lists type rollup by fund and funded type program and when to create an internal order vs. WBSE for faculty accounting structure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>WBSEs are the equivalent of an IO and are used for faculty allocation accounts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All other organizational data elements are derived from the IO\/WBSE:\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cost Center<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business Area<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Segment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Campus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Company Code<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Income statements (revenue, expenses, transfers) are available for all IOs\/WBSEs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Available balance is calculated at the IO\/WBSE level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IOs\/WBSEs are created primarily by business office staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In FM, IOs\/WBSEs are matched with an identical Funded Program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t<div class=\"double-accordion \">\n\t\t <p class=\"double-accordion-title\" id=\"cost-center\" role=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><strong>COST CENTER<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t <div id=\"double-content Priaynsh cost-center \" class=\"double-accordion-content\">\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cost Centers represent organizational units to which IOs\/WBSEs&nbsp;AND&nbsp;positions are assigned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are very limited exceptions to this requirement which include Central Office cost centers and Recharge\/Digital Ed cost centers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Every Cost Center in the Finance structure has an equivalent Department (i.e. Org Unit) in the HR structure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creation of a new Cost Center requires the approval of both HR and the Comptroller\u2019s Office to verify need.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Income Statements (revenue, expenses, transfers) are available for all Cost Centers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FTE and Headcount is available for all Cost Centers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capital assets are also tracked by responsible Cost Center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cost Centers in FI\/CO will be matched with an identical Funds Center in FM.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cost Centers can \u2018roll-up\u2019 to another Cost Center and are arranged in a three-level hierarchy: Financial Unit, Financial Sub-Unit, and Program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Financial Units are required to have annual budget plans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Annual budgets are optional for Financial Sub-Units and&nbsp;<strong>other Cost Centers.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lower level Cost Centers should still represent units which own positions, have a leader, and have accountability for determining how funds are used.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cost Center Category and alternate hierarchies will be used for some reporting needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t<div class=\"double-accordion \">\n\t\t <p class=\"double-accordion-title\" id=\"business-area\" role=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><strong>BUSINESS AREA<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t <div id=\"double-content Priaynsh business-area \" class=\"double-accordion-content\">\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A Business Area is primarily a grouping of Cost Centers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Income Statements (revenue, expenses, transfers) are available for all Business Areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business Areas represent:\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Colleges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Athletics Departments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Units led by individuals who directly report to a&nbsp;<strong>Segment Executive&nbsp;<\/strong>and have annual expenditures greater than $7.5M<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Units which have a reporting requirement that necessitates an SAP-generated balance sheet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business Area is the lowest level\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Some components are tracked at lower levels.\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Capital Assets at the Cost Center level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some are only tracked by Business Area.\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cash, Inventory<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>These components are not attributed to a Financial Unit or Cost Center, but can be reconciled to them<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t<div class=\"double-accordion \">\n\t\t <p class=\"double-accordion-title\" id=\"segment\" role=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\"><strong>SEGMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t <div id=\"double-content Priaynsh segment \" class=\"double-accordion-content\">\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Segments are simply groupings of Business Areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Segments represent the grouping of Business Areas for which each Executive is responsible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No financial information is available for reporting in the future is accomplished by grouping segments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For example: Purdue West Lafayette, Purdue Northwest and Purdue Fort Wayne.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\t<div class=\"double-accordion \">\n\t\t <p class=\"double-accordion-title\" id=\"company-code\" role=\"button\" distinct legal entities which have entries in SAP<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For Example: Purdue Applied Research Institute, Purdue Global, and Purdue
