Title IX @45: Recollection, Reformation and Resilience

The conference will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 9 am to 5:00 pm in the Shively Club located in Ross-Ade Pavilion. The day’s events will include presentations and panel discussions on Title IX’s impact on Purdue, women’s sports and education over the past 45 years. Speakers will also address future challenges and opportunities. Dr. Sally Mason, former Purdue University Provost and currently President Emeritus of the University of Iowa will be the Keynote speaker. Ms. Boo De Oliveira, Head Softball Coach, will be the luncheon speaker. A reception honoring the recipients of Purdue’s Title IX Distinguished Service award will follow the Conference.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 was signed into law on June 23, 1972, by President Richard M. Nixon. Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity.
