Directions to the Purdue Testing Center

The Purdue Testing Center is located on the Purdue West Lafayette campus, in the basement of Schleman Hall of Student Services, Room B42. Schleman Hall can be found north of the Bell Tower, in the northwest corner of the Engineering Mall. It is positioned between Northwestern Avenue and North University Street, near Hovde Hall, the Elliott Hall of Music, the ROTC Armory, and the new Chaney-Hale Hall of Science.

Note: if driving, please do not use Google Maps to navigate directly to the Purdue Testing Center. Please see information about parking below.

Riding the Bus

Many campus loop buses are available; the most convenient stop near the Testing Center is in front of the Purdue University Student Health (PUSH) Center. For campus loop bus routes and schedules, please visit the Greater Lafayette City Bus website.

Driving/Parking

If you are driving to the Testing Center, please note that it can be difficult to find parking! Purdue University West Lafayette is a large, busy campus, and most parking areas are reserved or permit-only. We recommend allowing yourself at least half an hour to obtain a parking pass (if needed), find a spot, and travel from the parking area to the Testing Center.

Free Parking

Permit-only lots and garages are open for free parking ONLY after 5:00 pm on weekday evenings and on weekends, and even then parking areas may be reserved for sports or other special events. Watch for police orders or other signage that supersedes normal parking regulations. Sporting event schedules are available at Purdue Athletics - Official Site.

There is a VERY limited number of street parking spaces along Waldron Street, which runs parallel to University Street, and some of the connecting numbered streets. However, these spaces fill up quickly and are not a very reliable option when classes are in session. It is a better option during student breaks, particularly during the summer months.

There are some two-hour street parking areas on side streets near businesses along Northwestern Avenue and Stadium Street which may suffice for short visits, but are not a viable option for long exams.

Pay Parking

A new initiative has opened several pay parking spaces in the lot directly in front of Schleman Hall. These require payment via the PassportParking app. This parking option is likely temporary due to future construction plans, but may be the most convenient option for Schleman Hall visitors while it lasts.

Before 5:00 pm on weekdays, pay parking is available in the Grant Street parking garage across from the Purdue Memorial Union. If approaching from the east, take State Street up the hill and turn right onto Grant Street. If approaching from the west, take State Street or Harrison Street and turn left onto Grant. The entrance to the garage will be on the right; watch for the sign. It is about a 15 minute walk from the Grant Street parking garage to Schleman Hall. Walk behind the Purdue Memorial Union, past Stewart Center. Turn right at Wetherill Hall and go toward the Engineering Mall. Turn left at the Bell Tower and walk under the skywalk between Elliott Hall of Music and Hovde Hall. Schleman Hall will be directly in front of you.

Day Pass

Another option is to obtain a day pass for parking in permit-only lots and garages, which can be purchased from Parking Facilities for $5. This requires an extra stop at the opposite end of campus, but will allow you to park closer to the Testing Center and is a more economical option for clients taking longer tests. The Parking Facilities office is located at the Materials Management and Distribution Center (MMDC) at 700 Ahlers Drive. Please visit Purdue University Parking for more information.

The most convenient parking area near the Testing Center is the University Street parking garage, which is permit-only from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. To get to the garage from Parking Facilities, go west on Ahlers Drive toward the main campus. Turn left on Russell Street, then right on State Street, and finally left on University Street. The garage will be on the left.

Be Aware

Parking elsewhere or in permit-only areas without a permit is at your own risk. Most test vendors do not allow candidates to leave the building during breaks, so you will not be able to move your car until you have finished. If parked illegally, your car may be ticketed or towed at your expense.
