The mission of this Learning Community is to enhance the academic experiences of first-year students at Purdue University and to help students become engaged with the Purdue University community. This Learning Community welcomes all first-year students and provides an environment that complements the learning outcomes of the Gender and Sexuality Studies curriculum at Purdue University. At its core, the DIGSS LC emphasizes themes of social justice and intersectionality. Learning Community students will be introduced to a wide range of campus resources and activities and have opportunities to network with students who share common interests in gender and sexuality. This LC is the only one at Purdue that focuses on gender and sexuality. Through a variety of classroom experiences and exciting on-and-off-campus activities, students learn how gender and sexuality impact people both locally and globally. Students in DIGSS are encouraged to conduct original research and explore how topics of gender and sexuality relate to their own academic interests and career goals.
