Purdue Testing Center Reopens for Pearson VUE and CLEP Exams

After a brief hiatus imposed by COVID-19, the Purdue Testing Center has resumed offerings of Pearson VUE testing and CLEP exams, in addition to several advanced credit exams it had continued to provide virtually.

Available Pearson VUE exams include:

  • Evaluation Systems (ES)
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)/Fundamentals of Surveying (FS)
  • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)
  • Microsoft Certification Exams
  • Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT)
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE)

College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests are administered by the Purdue Testing Center year-round by appointment. CLEP exams allow students to earn credit based on knowledge they've acquired through experience or independent study. Purdue offers credit for 50 courses in various subjects.

To take a CLEP test at the PTC, please follow the instructions on the CLEP Checklist. These are all computer-based exams and are administered in Schleman Hall, Room B42. Please visit the CLEP COVID-19 Update Page for the vendor’s coronavirus response.

Exams not currently offered:

National vendors are not currently allowing the Purdue Testing Center to administer national exams (such as GRE subject tests and LSAT) due to challenges posed by COVID-19. PTC will continue to work with national test vendors with hope of resuming these offerings as the situation changes.

New Health and Safety Requirements for In-Person Exams

All individuals taking exams at the Purdue Testing Center must comply with safety guidelines outlined in the Protect Purdue Plan. Individuals’ Pearson VUE exam registration confirmation will include a link to an acknowledgement form, which must be completed before entering the testing center. Please note that all Testing Center visitors who are not students, staff or faculty at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus are required to comply with the Protect Purdue campus visitors guidelines .

Per state mandate and university policy,  a face mask must be worn at all times while inside university buildings. Individuals will be asked to remove the mask briefly when your photo is taken and show the back side for a security check.

To promote social distancing, the Purdue Testing Center is currently open only to clients with scheduled appointments on the given day. Please, no walk-in visits. PTC staff can be reached for questions at (765) 494-7690 or ptc@purdue.edu.

Clients with scheduled appointments are required to call the PTC upon arrival to obtain a "building entry time" that designates when they can enter Schleman Hall.

There is no seating/waiting area in the testing center or hallway.

Individuals must stay home if they are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19. To ensure the safety of all Purdue staff, students, and visitors, your temperature may be taken using a touchless infrared thermometer prior to admission.
