VPSL Merit Pay Guidelines

In an effort to recognize performance of and contributions made by student employees, all units within Vice Provost for Student Life may award wage increases to those who meet the employment criteria and plan to continue their employment. Students may be eligible for a merit raise during each period (excluding summer) they are employed. Additionally, a student moving from one job category to another (kitchen to grill; custodial to kitchen) should be paid at the minimum rate and may be eligible to retain previous merit raises.

In order to qualify for any merit increase, the following conditions must be met:

  • The student employee must be in good standing
  • The student employee must work at least 30 total hours during the employment period (academic term)
  • A performance appraisal must be complete for each evaluation period within the Student Employment Management System prior to the evaluation close date
  • The rate of pay may not exceed the designated pay level range for the position
  • The student employee must fulfill the unit specific requirements as stipulated by their supervisor
