Spring Fling non-registration events

The events listed on this page do not require pre-registration.  Just show up on May 22 and join in the fun!

Information Table

Where: North end of Memorial Mall, in front of the food tent
When: 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Not sure where to go?  Staff will be available to guide you to your event. You can also drop off items for the pet supply drive here!


Where: Under the big tent on the Memorial Mall lawn
When: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Enjoy a great lunch with your friends and colleagues with a choice of turkey and cojack / or ham and swiss / or a vegetarian sandwich, chips, pretzels, carrots, trail mix, apples, and ice cream. Bottled water and soft drinks will also be available. 

An option will be available for staff who are on the Virta health plan or who require a gluten-free option.  All meal options are available in every line.

Supply Drive for local animal shelters

The Spring Fling coordinating committee is asking everyone to bring at least one item with them to Spring Fling.  Local animal shelters provide service to all of Tippecanoe County and count on the generosity of the community to help.  More information, including how you can donate at anytime as well as lists of needed items can be found here.

ZERO Waste

The Spring Fling coordinating committee is proud to sponsor Purdue's Zero Waste program.  We continue to offer products in recyclable packaging and provide containers for the compostable waste.  We ask that everyone do their part by utilizing the proper containers - it takes the whole campus community to make this successful. Together we can make Spring Fling 2019 another ZERO WASTE event!

Entertainment - DJ

Where: Memorial Mall
When:  11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. 

Enjoy the sounds of local DJ Wendell Ferguson.  With more than 30 years of service, he provides the most up-to-date and energetic events throughout Lafayette.  Come out and give karaoke a try!

Yard Games

Where: South end, Memorial Mall
When:  11:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

If you're looking for a game that doesn't require a lot of pain and strain, join a game of Corn Hole, Ladder Golf, or Pickle Ball with your friends and co-workers!                                                                           

Zumba and Yoga

Where: Stewart Center, Room 302
When:  Zumba is from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. and Yoga is from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

You'll want to join in this musical exercise program where Latin style dance moves are incorporated into high-energy aerobic training that keeps participants coming back!

Yoga is about creating balance in the body through developing strength and flexibility.  Come see what yoga is all about!

Tour with City Bus

Where: Stone Hall bus top
When: 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Where did the name Boilermakers originate? How many students were enrolled when Purdue opened? Why was the John Purdue statue placed across from University Hall? Learn the answers to these questions and more by riding the Spring Fling “Tour Campus with CityBus”! Tour runs every 30 minutes. Last tour starts at 1:30 p.m.

When: 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

Come and play this game of chance and make it an extra special day by winning some great prizes for getting Bingo"!                                                                                                                                                                               

PURA - Purdue University Retirees Association

Where: Memorial Mall
When: 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Think you're ready for retirement? Stop by and speak to PURA representatives about what you should be doing now.

Disc Golf

Where:  Bottom of Slayter Hill
When: 1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Bring your own discs or check some out from the CoREC.  Whether you've been playing for a while, or are looking for something new to try - disc golf is becoming one of the greatest lifetime fitness sports available. Disc golf is played much like traditional golf, however, players use a flying disc rather than a ball and clubs. If you're interested in playing, meet at the bottom of Slayter Hill at 1:00p.m. on May 24 and get started!

Blood Drive for the Indiana Blood Center

Where: Bus Lane, Outside the Loeb entrance
When:  11:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

The donation process takes less than an hour.  It is recommended that donors have a light snack before donating. Most people are eligible to donate. For more information, click here.
