Study Smarter, Not Harder!
Starting off on the right foot with the right tools can make all the difference in your semester outcomes. Please join the Academic Success Center (ASC) as they present Smart Studying, Unlocking Content Mastery on Wednesday, September 4, 2:30 – 3:20 PM. Span Plan is excited to have great partners like the ASC to share their knowledge with our students and know this will be a great tool to help you be successful! Reserve your spot today!

Rainbow Callout 2019 (open to all Purdue students)
Span Plan will have a table to connect with students and have lots of fun at the annual welcome and resource fair for the entire LGBTQA+ and ally community at Purdue. Enjoy learning more about the resources, how to get involved with campus and meet new friends. Span Plan Scholarship Award Reception
We will gather to celebrate the 2019-20 Span Plan Scholarship recipients on Sunday, September 22nd, 2:00 PM! If you are a scholarship recipient, please save the date to attend with your family; formal invitations will be sent prior to the event with RSVP instructions.

Get Lost in the Maze
Span Plan students and their families are invited out for a fun community event – what we’re calling The Rally events. We will be gathering at Exploration Acres, fire pit #4 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM on Saturday, October 5th to enjoy some time outside and gathering with other Span Plan students. For ticketing purposes, you will need to RSVP for this event and include the names and ages of your family members that will be attending with you. Span Plan will cover your entrance fee and have some light snacks to enjoy around the fire and while you master the corn maze (there may be a high probability of Carrie and Malissa getting lost in the maze, so bring your navigation skills)!

Think Summer and Complete your FAFSA
It’s not too early to start thinking about your summer academic plans and understand what tools exist on campus to help you get your plan in place!  Think Summer staff will present about their scholarship and other opportunities available in the summer and we will have professionals available to help you complete the 2020-2021 FAFSA.  Your 2020-21 FAFSA will need to be completed to access Purdue resources for the summer term, so why not get that step out of the way? Please RSVP to attend one of the two sessions being offered!

Essays, Essays, Essays – Scholarship Essay Writing Workshop
Have you applied for a scholarship and not received it or just need some time to work on your scholarship essays? This workshop will explore best methods for telling your story and how it relates to experiences beyond the scholarship essay. You will also have time to work on your Span Plan scholarship essays for the 2020-2021 school year as well as explore other scholarship opportunities. Join us at one or both of the sessions available this fall by completing the RSVP!

The Lunchbox Sessions: Get to Know Your CoRec
The Lunchbox is a Span Plan program designed to provide opportunity for nontraditional undergraduate students to come together and connect with relevant and valuable resources purposed to enhance and enrich their student experience and success on campus.

This session on Thursday, November 7th, 11:30 – 1:00 PM will feature complimentary lunch and team leaders from the Purdue CoRec who will highlight their services and opportunities available, followed by a customized tour designed specifically for Span Plan students. Let us know you’ll be attending by reserving your spot here!

Span Plan Graduation Send Off
December 2019 Span Plan graduates and their families will be invited for a formal send-off ceremony to recognize your great accomplishment. Whether you plan to walk at the graduation ceremony or not, Span Plan will have a special memento to provide our graduates signifying their education journey as a nontraditional student. Formal invitations will be sent prior to the event with RSVP instructions.
Save the date – Friday, December 6th, 5:00 PM.

You’ve Got This – You’re Ready – Let’s Do This!
We will again offer quiet space for you to use to prepare and recharge to get through finals week! Join us in Third Street Suites, Room 159 to use the space reserved for Span Plan students. Come and go as your schedule allows or pop in for a snack to recharge – this is your space and your time to use and prepare to do great on your finals and projects.

We’ve Gone Wild

Take a break from summer studies and join Span Plan at the Columbia Park Zoo! Bring your family as we meet at 10am and hop on the park train ride together at 10:30am. We’ll have plenty of time to see the sites and enjoy the day before we head over to Arni’s for lunch at noon. There is no fee for any of the day, but we do ask that you help us with our lunch headcount by registering the number that plan to attend no later than July 17th.

Wellness Workshop

Do you juggle competing priorities? Hope to reduce stress and find balance? June is national Emotional Wellness Month and Span Plan supports your academic goals and your pursuit of wholeness and balance. Join us for lunch, connect with your peers as we join with CAPS for a great discussion and information to empower you with tools to bring balance and wellness to every day life! Register now!

Power Up and Recharge for Finals – Study Sessions

Span Plan will provide an open and quiet study space in Third Street Suits, Room 159, designated specifically for Span Plan students to prepare and recharge for finals. Students may come and go as schedules allow and sign up to attend as many sessions as needed. To help us ensure enough refreshments are available to keep you energized and awake, we ask that you help us with a headcount by indicating your attendance here.

  • Friday, April 26: 1-5 pm
  • Saturday, April 27: noon-4 pm
  • Monday, April 29: 8 am-noon
  • Tuesday, April 30: 8 am – noon


Student Parent Meeting

Are you an undergraduate student parent at the West Lafayette campus? If so, we hope you will join us on Tuesday, April 2nd at noon for a luncheon to connect with your peers and have an open discussion about your experiences. Scholarship Workshop

Have you ever wondered how to put your best self forward when applying for a scholarship? These workshops are for you! Plan to attend one of the upcoming scholarship workshops where time will be spent reviewing tips and strategies for composing effective scholarship essays. There will also be plenty of time to work on your scholarship essays for the 2019-20 Span Plan General Scholarship in this workshop. RSVP by clicking here to attend one or more of the sessions:

Summer Funding and FAFSA Workshop

Learn about summer funding options and receive help completing your 2019-20 FAFSA. The program will begin with about 20 minutes of Summer info and continue with open lab time to work through your FAFSA and get you ready for the summer and next school year! Come for a portion or stay the whole time, whatever works best for your interests. RSVP by clicking here to attend a session:
