The Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management (OREM) Science Education & Internship Program - Oak Ridge, TN

Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management offers students and recent college graduates opportunities to learn about the mission of the DOE-EM office and to receive specialized training and practical experience on the safe cleanup of environmental projects stemming from five decades of nuclear weapons development and government-sponsored energy research.

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • U.S. citizenship (verification will be required if selected), and at least 18 years of age (no exceptions).
  • Be an undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate of an accredited institute of higher education

The Student Conservation Association

The National Park Service and the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the Student Conservation Association (SCA) has developed expense-paid internships aimed at providing students with the mentorship and hands-on experience needed to build a career in the conservation field. Internships are found in a wide variety of fields - education, historical preservation, resource management, visitor service, and many others - but they all have one thing in common: they promote social, personal, and academic development, and pave the way for professional success.

Ideal candidates are:

  • US citizens or permanent residents
  • Undergraduate or graduate students who self-identify as being from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds
  • Available for a spring break orientation and 12-week summer internship
  • Open-minded, with an adventurous spirit
  • Not necessarily experienced in conservation, but eager to learn more - all majors are welcome
  • A licensed driver

Pre-Professional Advising Letter Service

Pre-Professional Advising offers a letter service for applicants to medical, dental and podiatry school. We will collect letters of recommendation and submit a letter packet to the application service on behalf of the applicant. We maintain your letter file for five years in case you need to reapply. If you are applying to medical, dental or podiatry school that starts in the next academic year, visit the Letters of Recommendation Website for the link to sign up!

Once you have completed the survey, the Pre-Professional Advising Office will send you an email that will include a handout to give to your letter writers and instructions you must follow to complete the Letters of Evaluation section of your online application once it opens in the spring.
