Synopsis and Key Dates
The Purdue Office of Research is announcing the availability of travel grants of $1,500 each to support Purdue faculty to build collaborations that will increase their competitiveness for new Department of Defense research funding.
- Applications are due by 5:00pm on January 31, 2025 and April 15, 2025.
- Travel should be completed by October 31, 2025.
Background and Purpose
The Department of Defense Research Collaborations travel grants support the development of new sustained research collaborations between Purdue faculty and members of the DoD research community targeting a specific funding opportunity.
Eligibility
Purdue University faculty are eligible to apply for this program.
Application Submission Procedures
Applications must be submitted directly to sir@purdue.edu by 5:00pm on January 31, 2025, and April 15, 2025.
The one-page applications must use Arial 11-point font with 0.5-inch margins, single line spacing and must follow the supplied DoD Travel Grant Template. Applications should contain the following components:
- The PI’s prior Department of Defense (DoD) funding,
- Type, size, and due date of DoD grant that the PI proposes applying for
- Reasons for requesting travel grant (please provide details on your collaborator, the nature of the collaboration, why this funding will help you be competitive for a new DoD grant submission) and responses to the three review criteria listed below
- Amount of DoD grant funding to be expended at Purdue.
- Place and approximate timing of visit to collaborator
Incomplete applications and/or applications that do not meet these requirements will be returned without review.
Review Process
Each application will be scored in each of these areas:
- Alignment of request with current Purdue strategic areas and program priorities.
- Impact of the results on Purdue and the warfighter.
- Estimated return on investment of these grant funds.
