History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With support from Purdue University\u2019s Provost\u2019s Faculty Cluster Hire Program, the\u00a0College of Liberal Arts<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0College of Health and Human Sciences<\/a>\u00a0collaborated on a cluster hire initiative of tenure-track faculty to expand campus-wide expertise in advanced quantitative and qualitative methods in the health and social sciences. In 2016 and 2017, eight new faculty were hired under this initiative\u00a0and joined other\u00a0faculty at Purdue with research and teaching interests in methodology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty hired under this cross-college initiative contribute to the research and teaching missions of their departments, and collaborate with others in the center and across the university in interdisciplinary and extramurally funded research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, methodologically-oriented faculty already at Purdue and other new hires joined the group, which become known as Advanced Methodologies at Purdue (AMAP). AMAP expanded rapidly from 2017 to 2024, growing to 100 core faculty and affiliates and offering a graduate certificate in interdisciplinary methodologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MCAP Today<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the summer of 2024, the group officially became The Methodology Center at Purdue (MCAP) with generous support from the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Health and Human Sciences. The founding co-directors of the center were: Trent Mize, Kristine Marceau, James McCann, and Sharon Christ. The center is currently led by Trent Mize<\/a> (director for social sciences) and Kristine Marceau<\/a> (director for health sciences).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
