The Eli Lilly and Company Make Life Better Scholarship

Scholarship Overview

The Eli Lilly and Company Make Life Better Scholarship is intended to create scholarship opportunities for 30 diverse Purdue students over the next 3 years.

Lilly will fund ten (10) scholarships of up to $10,000 each to be awarded each year, starting in the spring of calendar year 2022.

The Purdue University Office of Research will select the scholarships on an annual basis by selecting qualified students through the application process outlined below.

Scholarships will be awarded for the spring semester and carry over to the following fall semester, provided the student continues to meet eligibility criteria. Scholarships are one-time awards for each student and are not renewable.

Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the Eli Lilly and Company Make Life Better Scholarship, students must submit an application and meet the following criteria: GPA of 3.0 or above, sophomores, STEM majors, immediate family member may not be employed by Eli Lilly and Company.

  • Official Transcript
  • Essay (see below for questions)
  • Two Letters of Recommendation

  • In 1,200 words or less please answer all of the following questions:

    How do you intend to Make Life Better upon graduation?
  • 2.
    Given your personal background, describe and experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity perspective to Eli Lilly and Company?
  • 3.
    What are your plans after undergraduate/area of interest? How has your diversity (cultural heritage, race, gender, socio-economic background, family, work, and/or school experiences etc.) contributed to who you are today and your pursuit of a career?
  • 4.
    What financial challenges do you anticipate encountering as you pursue your college education?
  • 5.
    How do you plan to overcome the identified challenges?
