Purdue University invites internal applications and nominations for the position of John & Donna Krenicki Director of the interdisciplinary Purdue University Institute for Integrative Neuroscience (PIIN). The Institute is a partnership spanning 25 departments at Purdue University and one of six institutes and centers that form the hub of Purdue life sciences. It is built on a mission of combining strengths in science and engineering to unravel the mysteries of the healthy brain and to alleviate suffering associated with trauma, disease, or disorders of the nervous system through biological/biomedical discoveries and creative technologies. One of the four life science institutes and centers in Discovery Park, the Integrative Neuroscience Institute leverages existing strengths in Aging & Neurodegeneration, Neuroengineering, Development, Genetics & Neuropharmacology, and Neurotrama & Neuropathology.

The director of the Institute for Integrative Neuroscience reports to the Chief Scientist and Executive Director of Discovery Park. Responsibilities support the overall mission of the Institute and include: implementing an ongoing strategic plan to position the Institute for maximum global impact in the field of neuroscience that enhances circuit neuroscience and leverages Purdue’s strengths in neuroengineering and drug discovery; engaging faculty and staff to achieve critical milestones; developing quality partnerships; generating extramural funding; gaining national and international attention; and leading neuroscience research at Purdue to a collaborative, novel, productive pinnacle.

The candidate must be a senior tenured faculty member at Purdue, and have an established career in neuroscience with a record of excellence in research. Experience is desired that demonstrates a successful record of scholarship in well‐funded research programs, academic excellence, effective management and motivation of diverse staff, and proven experience working with multidisciplinary research groups via effective team-building.
