Blake Hylton, a Purdue graduate student, wins Lichten Award.

Blake is a Purdue grad student doing much of the work on the COST-A blade impact detection task. Blake gave a briefing on this work at the AHS Northeast Region Lichten Award competition and won the Northeast Region competition and will go on to the national competition.

The purpose of the Lichten Award competition is to encourage AHS members to engage in the writing and presentation of technical papers and to promote the exchange of technical information. The Lichten competition is open to anyone doing rotorcraft R&D that has never presented a paper at a National conference or symposium. The award is based on the author's personal contribution, originality of the work, technical content, objectivity, organization and clarity. The winner of the regional competition receives a cash award and prepares a paper on the presentation topic for submission to the AHS National Technical Council for the national competition. The winner of the national competition gets an even bigger cash award and the opportunity to present at a ”keynote” type briefing at the AHS Forum.
