Propellant Chemistry Of Energetic Materials

The area of propellant chemistry of energetic materials is critical to understand and maximize the use of fuel in aeronautical engineering. The College of Engineering is expanding into strategic areas and energetic materials was selected from nearly three dozen candidate proposals. Since the rocket propulsion industry has downsized propellant development labs, and as the need to evolve from toxic and carcinogenic propellants grows, the potential to do fundamental propellant development work offers a unique aspect Purdue will soon be able to provide.

Zucrow Laboratories - Turbines

Research in the Purdue High-Speed Compressor Research Laboratory is targeted toward understanding the effects of blade row interactions on compressor performance and durability in both axial compressors and centrifugal compressors.

Steady and unsteady aerothermal measurements acquired in the compressor test facilities highlight flow phenomena which are relevant to the advancement of modern high-performance compressors.
