About Aquatics

The aquatics program spans two different facilities and offers open recreation swim, varying swim lessons, and varying American Red Cross safety courses. Read on about the Morgan J. Burke Aquatics Center and Recreation Pool, as well as the rules for each facility.

Morgan J Burke Aquatics Center

Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center

The Morgan J Burke Aquatics Center is a 80,521 sq. ft. facility.  Opened in 2001, through a collaboration between Recreation & Wellness, Intercollegiate Athletics and the Department of Health & Kinesiology. The facility features seating for 625 spectators and hosts competitions at a local, regional and national level. The Morgan J. Burke Aquatics Center also features:

  • A 12 person spa
  • The Doris Holloway Competition Pool with 8 x 50 meter lanes and 2 Stark moveable bulkheads
  • The dive pool, has 6 x 26yd. lanes, 17 feet deep and has two 1 meter and two 3 meter springboards as well as 1, 3, 5, 7.5, and 10 meter diving platforms

Recreation Pool

Purdue Recreation & Wellness Recreation Pool

The Recreation Pool is located within the CoRec. It features:

  • Three 25 yard lap lanes
  • A 26 person spa
  • Vortex area
  • Two water basketball goals
  • Water Volleyball

General Information

Pool Rules
  • Regulation swimsuits are required in swimming pools and spas.
  • Showers are recommended prior to pool and spa use.
  • Street shoes are not permitted on pool deck areas.
  • Only clean, appropriate attire designed for swimming is permitted.
  • For female identifying members: appropriate swimwear must cover breasts, buttocks, genital, and pubic region.
  • For male identifying members: appropriate swimwear must cover buttocks, genitals, and pubic region.
  • Specifically, street clothes, thongs, and see-through swimwear is prohibited.
  • A clean, white t-shirt and/or clean aqua socks may be worn in the pool.
  • Young children, infants and others not in control of bodily functions must wear plastic pants or swim diapers designed specifically for pool use. Swim diapers are available at the CoRec Equipment Desk.
  • Eyeglasses worn into the water should be worn with a safety strap.
  • Wearing goggles, earplugs or contact lenses while diving is prohibited.
