Purdue Promise Orientation

When is Purdue Promise Orientation?

Purdue Promise Orientation will be Sunday, August 11 & Monday, August 12, 2019. Check-in will be from 3:00-5:00pm in the lobby of the Krach Leadership Center. Here you will receive a folder with resources and full agenda for orientation. Dinner will be provided for students from 5:00-6:30pm. Guests are welcome to purchase their own meals in the dining court if they would like to eat with their student. Opening session begins at 7:00pm in Loeb Playhouse located in the Stewart Center.

What do I need to do before Orientation?

Attend STAR! This is a campus requirement and where you will sign your Purdue Promise contract. You can also bring any questions you have about 21st Century Scholars and Purdue Promise at this time.

Register for BGR! It is a requirement of our program to attend Boiler Gold Rush (BGR). Please register for this through the new student checklist in myPurdue. After registering a new checklist item will show up asking you to pay for BGR, please ignore it. Purdue Promise covers the cost for students in the program. Waivers will be processed after STAR.

Is Purdue Promise Orientation mandatory?

Yes! This is a great opportunity to meet your coach and get to know other students in the program. If you have any conflicts please let our office know as soon as possible at purduepromise@purdue.edu

How will I move-in?

On-Campus Students. If you are staying on-campus and have already signed your housing contract, you will need to select the August 11th move-in date. You will only get access to this move-in date after you have registered for BGR. Information about the actual move-in process has been communicated via email, make sure you've read it. You can move-in anytime during 9:00am and 4:30pm! Dinner begins at 5:00pm.

Off-Campus Students. If you are living off-campus please RSVP by filling out this link:

You must work with your apartment complex individually to set up an earlier move-in time. You must register for BGR to have meals covered during Purdue Promise orientation.

Is there a cost for Purdue Promise Orientation?

No! The extra cost of housing and meals is covered by Purdue Promise along with your BGR registration.

Is there anything for the parents, families and guests?

Yes! There will be short rotational presentations on August 11 from the Parent and Family Connections office and Purdue Promise in the Krach Leadership Center, room 464A. Presentation times are 2:00pm, 3:00pm and 4:00pm and are 45 minutes in length. They will explain the purpose of the Parent and Family Connection office, go through their scholarship requirements and ways to support your student in college.
