The buildings of Cary Quadrangle are all Type 2, non-combustible construction

Fire Alarm System- The fire alarm system is monitored by the Purdue Dispatch Center. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a smoke detector, manual pull station, duct detector or activation of the sprinkler system. Audible horns and visual strobe lights will alert building occupants of an alarm activation.

Sprinkler System- All Cary Quadrangle buildings are equipped with a fire sprinkler system. A general fire alarm will sound upon sprinkler activation. The sprinkler systems are supported by a dedicated water line for fire protection. Cary South is equipped with a 750 gpm fire pump which will support the sprinkler system during fire conditions.

Smoke Detection- The buildings are equipped with smoke detection in all public areas and residential corridors. All smoke detectors are monitored by the alarm panel and will signal a general fire alarm upon activation. Duct detectors are present within the buildings HVAC system.

Room Detectors- All residential rooms are equipped with hard-wired smoke detectors. Room detectors report to a secondary alarm panel located within the building.

Pull Stations- Manual pull stations are located throughout the buildings. A general fire alrm will sound upon activation of a pull station.

Fire Extinguishers- 10# ABC type fire extinguishers are located throughout the buildings.
Earhart Hall
Earhart Hall residential areas are Type I, fire resistive construction. The center core containing office and public spaces is Type II, non-combustible construction.

Fire Alarm- The fire alarm system is monitored by the Purdue Dispatch Center. A general fire alarm will be sounded upon activation of a manual pull station, smoke detector or sprinkler system activation. Audible horns and visual strobes will alert building occupants.

Sprinkler System- Earhart Hall has been equipped with a fire sprinkler system in all areas of the building including: residential rooms, corridors, public areas and mechanical spaces. A general fire alarm will be sounded upon activation of the fire sprinkler system. The sprinkler system is supported by a dedicated water supply line for fire protection.

Smoke Detection- The building is equipped with smoke detection in all public areas and residential corridors. Activated smoke detectors report to the fire alarm panel and will activate a general fire alarm upon activation. Duct detectors are present within the buildings HVAC system.

First Street Towers
First Street Towers East and Center wings are Type 2, non-cumbustible construction.

Fire Alarm System- The building fire alarm system is monitored by the Purdue Dispatch Center. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a smoke alarm, duct detector, manual pull station or activation of the buildings fire sprinler system. Audible horns and visual strobes will alert building occupants of a fire condition.

Sprinkler system- First Street Towers is equipped with a fire sprinkler system throughout the buildings. A general fire alarm will be sounded upon activation of the sprinkler system. The sprinkler system is supported by a dedicated water supply for fire protection.

Fire Sprinkler System- Harrison Hall has been equipped with fire sprinkler system in all areas of the building including: residential rooms, corridors, public areas and mechanical spaces. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of the fire sprinkler system. The sprinkler system is supported by a water supply line dedicated for fire protection.

Hawkins Hall is a Type I, Fire Resistive structure.

Hillenbrand Hall
Hillenbrand Hall residential areas areType I, Fire Resistive construction. The center core containing office a public spare is Type II, Non-combustible construction.

Fire Alarm System- The building fire alarm is monitored by the Purdue Dispatch Center. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a smoke detector, duct detector, manual pull station or upon activation of the fire sprinkler system. Audible horns and visual strobes will alert the building occupants of a fire condition.

Smoke Detection- Hillenbrand Hall is equipped with smoke detection throughout the building. Smoke detectors in corridors, office spaces and in public areas report to the fire alarm panel and will signal a general fire alarm upon activation. Smoke detectors in individual residential rooms report to a secondary alarm panel located within the building. The building is also equipped with duct detectors throughout the buildings HVAC system.

Fire Sprinkler System- A fire sprinkler system is present in all areas of the building including, residential rooms, corridors, office spaces and all public areas. A 750 gpm fire pump will support the sprinkler system during fire conditions. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of the sprinkler system.

Manual pull stations- Manual pull stations are provided throughout all areas of the building including each residential floor.

Fire Extinguishers- 10# ABC type dry chemical fire extinguishers are in place throughout the building.
McCutcheon Hall
McCutcheon Hall residential wings are Type I, Fire Restrictive construction. The center core containing office and public spaces is Type II, Non-Combustible construction.

Fire Alarm System- The fire alarm system in McCutcheon Hall is monitored by the Purdue Dispatch Center. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a smoke alarm, manual pull station, duct detector or sprinkler system activation. Audible horns and visual strobes will alert building occupants of a fire condition.

Fire Sprinkler System- McCutcheon Hall has been equipped with a fire sprinkler system throughout the building. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of the sprinkler system. The sprinkler system is supported by a water line dedicated to fire protection.

Smoke Detection- The building is equipped with smoke detection in all public areas and residential corridors. Smoke detectors are connected to the building fire alarm panel and will report a general fire alarm upon activation. Duct detection is present within the buildings HVAC system.

Smoke Alarms- All residential rooms are equipped with battery operated smoke alarms.

Pull Stations- Manual pull stations are located throughout the entire building. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a manual pull station.

Fire Extinguishers- 10# class ABC type fire extinguishers are located throughout the building.
Meredith Hall
Meredith Hall is Type II, Non-combustible construction

Fire Alarm System- The main fire alarm panel is located at the loading dock and is monitored by the Purdue Dispatch Center. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a manual pull station or the kitchen hood suppression system. Audible horns will alert building occupants when the system is activated. The fire alarm system is scheduled to be upgraded beginning in 2011.

Fire Sprinkler System- Fire sprinkler system brought into servicein July, 2011.

Smoke Alarms- All residential rooms are equipped with battery operated smoke alarms.

Pull Stations- Manual pull stations are located throughout the building. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a manual pull station.

Fire Extinguishers- 10# ABC type fire extinguishers are accessible throughout the building.
Owen Hall
Owen Hall is Type II Non-combustible contruction.

Fire Alarm- The fire alarm system in Owen Hall is monitored by the Purdue Dispatch Center. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a smoke detector, manual pull station, duct detectors or activation of the buildings sprinkler system. Audible horns and visual strobes will alert building occupants of a fire condition.

Fire Sprinkler System- Owen Hall has been equipped with a fire sprinkler system throughout the building including residential rooms and public areas. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of the sprinkler system. The system is supported by a water line deicated to fire protection.

Smoke Detection- Smoke detectors are located in all public areas and residential corridors. Activated smoke detectors report to the buildings fire alarm panel and will sound a general fire alarm upon activation. Duct detectors are present in the buildings HVAC system.

Smoke Alarms- All residential rooms are equipped with a battery operated smoke alarms.

Purdue Village
Purdue Village Apartments are Type III, ordinary construction.

Fire Alarm System- The Purdue Village apartment buildings are not equipped with fire alarm systems.

Smoke Alarms- Each apartment in Purdue Village is equipped with a battery operated smoke alarms.

Fire Extinguishers- 10# ABC type fire extinguishers are located in the enter level and top floor landing of each building.
Shreve Hall
Shreve Hall residential areas are Type I, fire resistive construction. The center core containing office spaces and public areas is Type II, non-combustible construction.

Fire Alarm System- The fire alarm system is monitored by the Purdue Dispatch Center. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a smoke detector, manual pull station, duct detector or the buildings fire sprinkler system. Audible horns and visual strobes will alert building occupants of a fire condition.

Sprinkler System- Shreve Hall is equipped with a fire sprinkler system throughout the building. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of the sprinkler system. The sprinkler system is supported by a water line dedicated to fire protection.

A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of the buildings sprinkler system. The sprinkler system is supported by a water line dedicated to fire protection.

Smoke Detection- Smoke detectors are installed in public areas and residential corridors. All smoke detectors report to the buildings fire alarm panel and will signal a general fire alarm upon activation. Duct detectors are present in the buildings HVAC system.

Pull Stations- Manual pull stations are located throughout the building. All pull stations are connected to the fire alarm panel and will signal a general fire alarm upon activation.

Windsor Halls
Vawter, Warren, Wood, Shealy and Duhme Halls

Fire Alarm System- The fire alarm systems are monitored by the Purdue Dispatch Center. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a smoke detector, duct detector, manual pull station or activation of the sprinkler system. Audible horns and visual strobes will notify building occupants during a general fire alarm.

Sprinkler System- All Windsor buildings are protected by an automatic fire sprinkler system. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of the sprinkler system. The sprinkler systems are supported by a dedicated water supply.

Smoke Detection- The buildings are equipped with hard wired smoke detectors in all public spaces and residential corridors. All smoke detectors are monitored by an alarm panel and will sound a general fire alarm upon activation. Duct detection devices are present within the buildings HVAC systems.

Smoke Alarms- Hard wired smoke alarms with battery backup are present in all residential rooms. A local alarm will sound upon activation of a residential smoke alarm.

Manual Pull Stations- Manual pull stations are located throughout the buildings. A general fire alarm will sound upon activation of a pull station.

Fire Extinguishers- 10# ABC type fire extinguishers are located throughout the buildings.
