Awards and Honors

The Office of the Provost has created a collection of highly prestigious national and international awards for which faculty can apply and/or be nominated.

The Faculty Awards and Recognition Committee (FAR)

In 2015, a Provost Fellow for Faculty Awards and Recognition was appointed to emphasize the importance of recognizing outstanding Purdue faculty for their accomplishments.  To carry out this mission, the FAR Provost fellow, working with a committee of faculty representatives from across the University, identified which national and international awards to prioritize, compiled information about previous Purdue recipients, encouraged nominations and recognitions for outstanding faculty, and created webpages highlighting information about key awards.

FAR has three main objectives:

  • Enhancing Purdue’s reputation, nationally and internationally;
  • Encouraging and supporting faculty as they apply for top awards and honors;
  • Creating a culture of recognition for award winners, honorees, and outstanding faculty.

The FAR Provost Fellow is available to assist Purdue faculty with all steps of the nomination and application process for external awards and honors—including providing help for drafting statements of intent, securing letters of recommendation, providing feedback on nomination packets, etc.

For further information or assistance, please contact Nancy Peterson, the current Chair of FAR, via email at FARProvostFellow@purdue.edu.
