BST Student Advisory Board

The Boiler Success Team aims to bring a range of perspectives and insights to issues affecting student success and well-being, and students themselves provide some of the most important input. When we first launched the BST, students told us what success meant to them. Now, we turn to the BST Student Advisory Board to hear how they experience Purdue, and what they need to be successful.

One of the advisory board's first meetings involved dinner with the Provost at Earhart Dining Court, with students sharing their thoughts about cross-disciplinary and experiential education opportunities. In addition, the BST Student Advisory Board has been consulted about a range of topics, including:

  • The use of batch registration for scheduling classes
  • Factors influencing their success in mathematics courses
  • How instructors were using technology for remote/hybrid learning
  • Communication strategies regarding mental health resources available to students
  • Their thoughts about taking exams in person or online during Fall 2020
  • How they searched for information about majors when applying to college

We recruit new members of the BST Student Advisory Board each fall semester, aiming for a mix of students from different colleges, race/ethnicity groups, and years of experience at Purdue.  No specific major or GPA is required, and we welcome students whose academic path may not have been perfectly smooth. We are looking for students who want to help improve the Purdue undergraduate experience for all students.
