William C. Byham Chair in Industrial-Organizational Psychology

Deborah E. Rupp joined the Provost's Office as Research Integrity Officer in January 2016. She is a professor and William C. Byham Chair in Industrial-Organizational Psychology in the Department of Psychological Sciences. She was previously an associate professor of Psychology, Labor/Employment Relations, and Law at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and has been a visiting professor at Singapore Management University, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, and Illinois Institute of Technology.

Rupp conducts research on organizational justice, behavioral ethics, corporate social responsibility, and humanitarian work psychology; as well as issues surrounding behavioral assessment, technology, bias, and the law. Her research has been cited in U.S. Supreme Court proceedings, and she has worked with myriad organizations around the world. She is Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). She has published three books and over 90 papers and chapters, and is currently serving as a SIOP representative to the United Nations.

In addition, Rupp has been actively involved in the science and practice of research ethics and integrity. She currently sits on multiple journal editorial boards, and is the former Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Management, a top-ranked empirical journal in business, management, and applied psychology. She also serves on the SIOP Executive Board as Publications Officer, overseeing three books series and two journals, and is co-founder of Editor Ethics (, a voluntary code of conduct surrounding the ethical conduct of journal editors. Finally, she has published and delivered multiple national and international presentations focusing on research ethics.
