Provost’s Conversation to discuss progress of Transformative Education 2.0

Jay Akridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity, is hosting a second campus-wide conversation about Transformative Education 2.0, one of Purdue’s Next Moves.

The virtual conversation is scheduled from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7.  All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate in the conversation by submitting questions ahead of time for the panel to address and by joining the live-stream event.

“We have made some significant progress since announcing this initiative last spring and we want to update the campus community,” Akridge says. “We think it’s important to continue to engage students, faculty and staff in this work as we move forward.”

Transformative Education 2.0 comprises three projects:

• Road Map Foundations: Propelling Student Success: This project is focused on enhancing key areas of our student success system.
• Strategic Expansion of Experiential Education – Innovation College: This project is focused on increasing the quantity, quality and equity of experiential education opportunities.
• Enhancing Student Learning and Classroom Engagement at Scale – Innovation College: The goal of this project is to leverage technology and create pedagogy to help redefine the residential student experience at scale.

Panelists for the virtual conversation will be:

• Jay Akridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity.
• Jenna Rickus, vice provost for teaching and learning.
• Kristina Wong Davis, vice provost for enrollment management.
• Cherise Hall, vice provost for finance and strategic initiatives.
• Beth McCuskey, vice provost for student life.
• Gary Bertoline, senior vice president for Purdue Online and learning innovation.

Transformative Education 2.0 is one of the five strategic initiatives of Purdue’s Next Moves, officially launched by the Board of Trustees last spring.
