Online Project Management Essentials
Purdue University’s Project Management Essentials course provides learners with fundamental project management knowledge and skills and a strong start on the path toward becoming a certified PMP through the Project Management Institute (PMI). Our learners typically are project managers in the early stages of their careers who want to hone their skills and are considering or planning to take the PMP exam, but the Essentials course also can benefit professionals whose responsibilities include managing projects.
Course Overview
Project Management Essentials is a 100% online, instructor-led course that runs for eight weeks. PME instructors engage learners in a stimulating range of learning activities that include directed study of the PMBOK® Guide (A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, Seventh Edition). Learners gain familiarity with basic project management concepts and terms. They also are empowered to begin effectively applying their newly acquired knowledge and skills to current projects.
After you complete the Essentials course, we encourage you to register for the Agile Certificate Online Course or prepare to become a certified Project Management Professional through our PMP® Exam Preparation course.
Agile Certificate Online Course
Prepare for the rapidly growing field of Agile project management with the Purdue Agile Certificate. Learners take a deep dive into Agile concepts and key frameworks for implementation. The program helps learners prepare for Agile certification online and meet the educational requirement to sit for the PMI Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP)® certification exam.
With more than half of the questions on the PMP exam focused on Agile or hybrid project management approaches, learners are also well-positioned to complete the PMP® certification exam. Those who are already certified can apply the 21 professional development units (PDUs) earned from this course toward maintaining certification.
Project managers, those interested in moving to project management and those who manage projects as part of their job can all benefit from this program.
After you finish the course, you can complete your project management skill set by enrolling in the PMP® Exam Preparation course. This offering will equip you with the knowledge and education hours needed to prepare for PMP® certification.
Course Overview
The 100% online Purdue Agile Online Course is an instructor-led, asynchronous program with weekly assignments. Developed around the PMI global standards outlined in the Agile Project Guide, the course provides an in-depth look at Agile methodology paired with hands-on experience.
In just five weeks, learners come away with a skill set they can immediately put to use to be more effective project managers.
Online PMP® Exam Preparation
PMP® Exam Preparation is an in-depth review course that follows our Project Management Essentials course and/or our Agile Certificate Online Course. It is a live, virtual course based on the PMBOK® Guide. Enrollment includes 90-day access to all of the course material, which is 100% aligned to the Project Management Institute’s PMP® Exam Prep content.
This course offering assumes you qualify to take the PMP Exam according to Project Management Institute (PMI) criteria, which includes being an experienced project manager (minimum 36 months of experience leading projects within the past eight years).
If you need a refresher on the content of the PMBOK® Guide or require the 35 hours of project management education necessary to take the PMP® Exam, we strongly suggest starting with the Project Management Essentials course. It will provide you with the foundational knowledge and education hours you need.
You should already be familiar with the content of the PMBOK® Guide before enrolling. If you need a refresher on the content of the PMBOK® Guide, taking the Project Management Essentials course first is strongly suggested.
Course Overview
PMP Exam Preparation is a 100% online, instructor-led course based on the PMBOK® Guide. PMI’s 180-question, multiple-choice PMP exam is demanding, and learners must engage in independent study following the course to pass.
