Our Grounds staff is responsible for maintaining the iconic appearance of the West Lafayette campus.

Landscape and Turf Maintenance

Staff plant, fertilize, aerate and mow grass. They also clean up leaves, change trash bags in the trash receptacles, clean ash urns and pick up litter on the exterior areas of campus. Additionally, arborists remove and plant trees as part of their carefully developed Campus Tree Care Plan, a continuous improvement effort that guides the assessment, care and management of trees.

Pest Control

Technicians are certified for the removal of insect and animal pests. They conduct routine maintenance and are available 24/7 for time-sensitive needs.

To request their services, building occupants may use the Fix It service request portal to provide contact information, building, room number or other location and pest control services that are needed. Building deputies who need to request emergency pest control services should call (765) 427-2739.

Street Operations

This crew is responsible for maintaining roadways, surface parking lots and the parking garage structures. This includes repairs and street sweeping.

Snow Removal

Staff keep the nearly 80 miles of sidewalks on campus and the University's streets free from snow and ice.

Refuse and Recycling Collection

Exterior refuse and recycling is collected seven days per week, year-round. Staff support recycling of glass, plastics, metals, office paper, confidential materials, cardboard, pallets, organics and other materials.
