Capital Program Planning Process for Academic Areas

The Capital Program Planning Process guides the planning and prioritization of all planned capital construction projects in alignment with the strategic goals of the University. In addition to capital projects, this process also includes all studies and public works projects. All three of these activities are categorized as minor renovations (less than $2M), major renovations (more than $2M), new construction or utilities.

Key process dates

FY17 project estimate requests and project lists for colleges and academic vice presidential/provost areas were due by November 28, 2016. These areas should be aware of the following key dates:

  • January 3, 2017 – Deadline to submit FY18 Repair and Rehabilitation (R&R) Matching Fund requests

  • January 31, 2017 – Physical Facilities selects FY18 R&R Matching Fund projects

  • March 1, 2017 – Deadline to submit draft FY18 project lists

  • March 1, 2017 – Deadline to initiate estimate requests for FY18 projects via the Project Initiation Form, formerly the Request for Professional Services

  • April 28, 2017 – Physical Facilities to return estimates for FY18 projects to clients

  • May 15, 2017 – Deadline to submit final FY18 project lists

  • June 15, 2017 – Physical Facilities to finalize campus-wide FY18 capital program plan

  • October 2, 2017 – Deadline to submit FY19 R&R Matching Fund requests

Completed project lists should be sent to Asset Management, and all estimate requests should be submitted via the usual process – the Project Initiation Form, formerly the Request for Professional Services.

Non-academic units and regional campuses should continue using their process for planned construction projects.
