General Information

Any person operating and/or parking a motor vehicle on campus must comply with all Purdue University Traffic and Parking Regulations.

Learn more about "front plates" and the additional parking flexibility they provide.

Students may not drive or park vehicles on the north academic campus between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Vehicles may not be stored in any parking lot or garage for longer than 24 hours without permission from the Parking Facilities office. Any vehicles in violation of this may be towed at the owner's expense.

Permit Sale Dates

Opening sale dates for 2023-24 parking permits vary by permit type and are listed below.


"C" Permits

Any registered student whose local place of residence is outside of the defined C permit boundary from campus may apply for a "C" permit. Vehicles must be registered for License Plate Recognition and linked to the purchased parking permit.

"C" permit applications may be submitted online once permit sales open beginning July 11, 2023. Students must provide proof of their local address and upload it into the online parking portal by choosing "Apply for a 2023-24 C Permit."


Student Employees

Students employed by Purdue at least 30 hours per week are eligible to purchase an annual "A" permit for $250 per year or a "B" permit for $100 per year. Beginning Aug. 1, 2023, student employees may complete the Student A/B Permit Application and upload it to the online parking portal by choosing "Special Permit Requests."


Disability Parking

Students may apply for disability parking through the online parking portal by choosing "Special Permit Requests."


Parking Exception Requests

Any student requesting a parking permit who does not meet the defined eligibility criteria should apply online under "Special Permit Requests" once permit sales begin. Students should use the notes box to provide a statement of need and upload any supporting documentation. The request will be reviewed, and if approved, available options will be provided. These may include parking, transit or other mobility solutions. 


Student Housing Parking

University Housing Permits

The sale of residence hall permits and graduate house permits will begin July 19, 2023 at 9 a.m. E.T. through the online parking portal. A limited number of all student parking permits are available on a first come, first served basis. Additional information is included below, or contact Parking Facilities with questions about eligibility. 

Regular Residence Hall Permits

Parking permits will be available for online purchase beginning July 19, 2023 at 9 a.m. E.T. through the online parking portal. Sophomores, juniors and seniors living in most residence halls are eligible for regular residence hall parking permits. A limited number of all student parking permits are available on a first come, first served basis. Residence hall permits are valid in any space posted for Residence Hall permits. 

Restricted Residence Hall Permits — First-Year Students

Restricted parking permits are only available to first-year students who live in a Purdue residence hall or Hawkins Hall with a documented need to travel off campus. To be considered, complete the Restricted Residence Hall Permit Application (PDF), save the form, and upload the form and required documentation (listed by reason on form) to the online parking portal on or after Aug. 1, 2023:

  • Regular medical visits off campus
  • Classes off campus (excluding the airport)
  • Reserve/active military duty
  • Off-campus employment 

These permits are only valid in the following locations: McCutcheon Drive Parking Garage top level, Wood Street Parking Garage top level and the east Airport gravel lot. 

Hawkins Hall

A limited number of Hawkins Hall permits will be available through the online parking portal beginning July 19, 2023 at 9 a.m. E.T. To be eligible, you must be classified as a sophomore or above who resides in Hawkins Hall.

Hawkins Hall permits are only valid in spaces posted for Hawkins Hall permits.

If freshmen meet the criteria outlined above for a restricted residence hall permit, they can submit an application and documentation for consideration.

University-Contracted Housing

Parking permits will be available for online purchase beginning July 19, 2023 at 9 a.m. E.T. through the online parking portal for students who live in apartments with a University-housing contract. Contact Parking Facilities if you need assistance determining parking permit eligibility.
