The formation of the PACADA chapter in 1987 was an outgrowth of the Purdue Advisors Forum which began in order to keep academic advisors aware of the outstanding and on-going campus programs beneficial to Purdue students.
On April 1, 1987, a committee of volunteers was formed to begin the process of writing by-laws and a consititution for a new advising organization. This committee consisted of:
John Bothel-Pharmacy
Barbara Doster-Management
Rex Fodrea-University Division
Carol Randel-Humanities, Social Science, and Education
Alan Welch-Science
The first steering committee was a mixture of persons involved with the planning of PACADA, and new persons added at the beginning of that year. The steering committee consisted of four Directors and the chair of each of the standing committees. The standing committees included Professional Development, Campus Affairs, Membership, and Communications/Newsletter. Assignment of the President, Vice President, and Secretary positions were discussed and agreed upon by the four Directors themselves.
