The Purdue Academic Advising Association (PACADA) is excited for First-Gen Celebration Week, happening across the country from November 7-11, 2022. The Purdue community is invited to help celebrate the assets and strengths embodied by first-generation college students during “Proud to be First!” on Monday, Nov. 7. The reception takes place from 4:30-6 p.m. in the North Ballroom of the Purdue Memorial Union.
First and foremost, we want to celebrate your accomplishments at Purdue! We know each of you are making giant leaps being the first in your families to pursue higher education and how lifechanging earning a college degree is for you. We are so proud of you for all your achievements and cannot wait to see what you do next here at Purdue.
We also want to celebrate each of you as Boilermakers. As Academic Advisors, we see the effort and energy that you have put into your academics. We are so grateful that you are a student on this campus. Purdue is an amazing place because of you!
We know that being a first-generation student can be an exciting, yet challenging journey. You may encounter situations you have not experienced before, like how to talk to a professor in office hours or finding where the Office of the Bursar is located. Whatever challenges or successes you are experiencing, know that your advisor is here to support and celebrate you!
We are proud of your accomplishments, no matter how big or small, and we are always here for you when setbacks or challenges may happen.
