VSTAR Timeline

VSTAR stands for Virtual Student Transition, Advising and Registration. VSTAR will help all incoming students connect with faculty, staff and current students. It also will connect incoming students to campus culture, resources and advising throughout the summer.

"New Student Task List" Launches

March, 2022 (Official Date TBA)

New Student Task List launches for all Fall new beginners and transfer students in MyPurdue portal.

VSTAR Begins

May, 2022 (Official Date TBA)

This is the date that all incoming students gain access to the VSTAR Part 1 modules in Brightspace. Brightspace is the online system Purdue uses to deliver course content. There is no need to register for VSTAR. Purdue will enroll you in VSTAR once you have accepted your offer of admission and paid your deposit.

Your progress will be saved as you explore each VSTAR section, so you can review content at your own pace. VSTAR must be completed before you can register for courses.

Connect with your Academic Advisor

After completing VSTAR Part 1

Once you have read through all the VSTAR Part 1 sections, you’ll fill out an electronic form. This serves as your certificate of VSTAR completion. By completing this form, you will alert your college that you are ready to meet with an academic advisor.

It’s important to note that the academic advising timeline varies by academic college. Your academic advisor will send you an email to your Purdue account to set up a time for your virtual advising appointment, so please continue to check your email regularly.

Academic Advising Website

Early August, 2022

If you are participating in Boiler Gold Rush, it is recommended that you complete VSTAR prior to June 24, 2022. This will help to ensure that you can connect with your academic advisor and register for classes prior to arriving on campus for Boiler Gold Rush or Boiler Gold Rush International.
