Dear Boilermaker, Purdue 101 is the first step in your orientation to Purdue University. This online program guides new students through campus resources and provides information on the spring course planning process to help you make a strong start at Purdue. You must complete Purdue 101 before you can register for courses, so please log in to Brightspace to complete the module as soon as you can! Click here to access Brightspace, and click the “Purdue University – West Lafayette” section to log in with your Purdue career account information. If you need help logging in to Purdue 101, please review the BoilerKey two-factor authentication FAQ, or contact Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) at 765-494-4000.
What happens after I finish Purdue 101?
By submitting your Student Information Form at the end of the Purdue 101 module, you are notifying your academic advisor that you are ready to schedule your first academic advising appointment, which will take place virtually. Purdue Advising is step 2 in Purdue's Orientation process. You can expect to receive an email from your advisor within 10 business days after submitting your Student Information Form, so be sure to check your Purdue email regularly and respond promptly to schedule your appointment. Advising appointments will begin in December with intermittent availability until the start of the spring semester.
How will I transition to campus in January?
Steps 3 and 4 in Purdue's orientation process are Purdue 102 (another virtual experience) and your Purdue welcome! You'll hear more about Purdue 102 in the coming weeks. For your Purdue welcome, you're invited to participate in Boiler Cold Rush (BCR)! BCR is your new student orientation program that takes place the weekend before spring classes begin, and we encourage all new students to sign up! BCR programming takes place on Jan. 6 and 7, 2023.
Move-in takes place Jan. 4 and 5 for BCR participants living on campus with University Residences. We encourage students living off-campus to arrive on these days so you're here before the start of the program.
Students who participate in BCR will:
- Learn about campus traditions, Purdue culture and university resources.
- Connect with other new students.
- Learn how to be a successful Boilermaker through direct guidance from current Purdue students.
If you are a transfer student, you can expect to be placed in small groups with other new transfer students so you can connect with those who have similar experiences throughout the program. If you are an international student, you can expect to connect with other international students and hear directly from the International Students & Scholars (ISS) office throughout the program. There is a $150 fee to participate in BCR for students living on campus, and a $200 fee to participate for those living off-campus. This fee is due the first day of classes. Fee waivers are available for those experiencing financial hardships through a short application process. BCR registration and the waiver application are currently open on your New Student Task List in your myPurdue portal. All BCR participants will receive an email from their orientation leader with more information about the program a few days before it begins. If you have any questions, please reach out to us by emailing studentsuccess@purdue.edu. We look forward to being a part of your transition to Purdue University in just a few weeks. We cannot wait to meet you! Sincerely, Orientation Programs |
