Orientation Partners,

Below are a few quick updates from Orientation Programs. As of today, more than 4,500 new and transfer students have completed Part 1 of Purdue's Virtual Student Transition, Advising and Registration (VSTAR) program. This represents more than 43 percent of Purdue's incoming class.

The VSTAR pre-survey data indicates that our communications are effective and our directions are clear. We continue to monitor progress and will be sending several more email nudges encouraging students to complete VSTAR Part 1 on time (June 10 for summer beginners, and June 24 for fall beginners). For the second year in a row, each student who completes VSTAR by Tuesday, May 31, will have $1 donated in their name to the ACE Campus Food Pantry, which helps combat hunger on the Purdue campus.

SUMMER VISIT DAYS

Orientation Programs has partnered with Purdue's Office of Admissions to host three optional summer visit days on June 10, 17, and 24. Designed primarily for new students and family members who have not yet had an opportunity to visit campus, each of these dates currently has more than 200 attendees registered. These days will take place predominantly in the Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center. The full schedule will be released closer to event dates and will be available on the PurdueGuide mobile app.

BGR DROP-IN, OPEN HOUSE OPPORTUNITIES

This year we are offering campus partners the chance to host drop-in hours or an open house event during Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) 2022. We will publish your final event details in our PurdueGuide App for BGR participants to view. Please fill out this survey no later than July 8 to sign up to participate in two different opportunities on Wednesday, Aug. 17 and/or Thursday, Aug. 18.

ORIENTATION STAFF UPDATES

Please join us in welcoming two new program coordinators, Jake Slodkowski and Jacque Rickett, to the Orientation Programs team! We are also hiring two new assistant directors, one to fill a newly created position and one to replace Cam Hoyt, who left Purdue this month for the role of assistant director of New Student and Family Programs at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. LANGUAGE TRANSLATIONS

As part of our ongoing efforts to make our programming and communications more inclusive, we have created two new pages on our website that provide an overview of Orientation Programs in Spanish and Mandarin. The content was translated through a professional service and has been reviewed by several bilingual students at Purdue. Please feel free to share these pages with students and families who may be interested.

Thank you for your partnership in welcoming this year’s incoming class of new students. We look forward to the months ahead!

P.S. Did you receive this email as a forward? Please let us know if you'd like to be added to the mailing list to receive future Orientation Programs updates.
