Purdue University

On behalf of Orientation Programs,

Below are a few quick updates for campus partners as we work together to welcome students "All Aboard Purdue," a 4-step orientation experience.

If you were unable to join us for our last in-person update, you can watch the recording on YouTube.

Our team has been communicating with incoming students and their families since March, and you can view those messages (as well as past partner updates) on the Orientation Programs website.

BGR OPEN HOUSE OPPORTUNITY

As part of Boiler Gold Rush, we are inviting you and your colleagues to host open houses for participants during two specific dates and times:
  • Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 2-5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 17, from 3-5 p.m.
  • Opportunities to host on Sunday, Aug. 13, and Sunday, Aug. 20, are also available but will mostly be religious-affiliated events.
If your office would like to host an open house during any of these times, please fill out this survey by 5 p.m. Friday, June 30, to provide us with those details.

Please note that your event will be one of the many choices available to the 8,000 BGR participants and their 600 unique BGR groups. Because of this, we cannot predict attendance to any event hosted during these times.

ALL ABOARD PURDUE OVERVIEW

Step 1: Purdue 101

As a reminder, Purdue 101 (Step 1 of the All Aboard Purdue orientation experience), opened for new beginners on May 2. This self-guided module is located in Brightspace and must be completed by students before they can connect with their academic advisor. Students have different completion deadlines depending on their starting term, and those dates are listed on the Orientation Timeline page
Step 2: Purdue Advising
After students complete their Student Information Form at the end of Purdue 101, academic advisors will reach out to students by email to schedule the first advising appointment.
Step 3: Purdue 102
This self-led module will open in Brightspace on June 2 for summer beginners and June 16 for fall beginners. The content helps students prepare to transition to campus and should be completed by Aug. 1.
Step 4: Purdue Welcome
Incoming students may choose to participate in our Purdue Welcome events, such as Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) and Boiler Gold Rush International (BGRi). Students may alternatively participate in the All-American Marching Band, Purdue Musical Organizations, or Purdue Athletics. Registration for BGR and BGRi is open now and closes on July 31. Students can register for BGR/BGRi on their New Student Task List in myPurdue.
Summer Visit Days (Optional)
Summer Visit Days are optional events hosted on June 5 and June 12 to give students and their families a chance to visit Purdue's campus and engage with students and staff. Students will receive an email invitation to register for these events.

ALL ABOARD PURDUE PRESENTATIONS

We recognize that it will take some time to adjust to the updated language and program names within the All Aboard Purdue experience.

If you'd like a 15-minute or 30-minute presentation from our team about the orientation experience, email Craig Johnson to set up a time.

Thank you so much for your continuing partnership and support of our incoming students!

Boiler up!

P.S. Did you receive this email as a forward? If so, please send us a note to be added to our mailing list.
