Dear Boilermaker,
You now have access to your online orientation program – called VSTAR. VSTAR stands for Virtual Student Transition, Advising, and Registration and is the first step of the orientation summer experience. This program is required for all incoming students, including students beginning classes in the summer. VSTAR is your next step in building Purdue knowledge to further support your academic and social experience on campus. VSTAR is presented in two parts.
- VSTAR Part 1 focuses on academic resources and connect you with your academic advisor to plan your courses. Your final task in VSTAR Part 1 will be to complete your Student Information Form (SIF). This form notifies your advisor that you've completed Part 1, and they will connect with you via your Purdue email. Appointments are important to planning your courses and can take place virtually via video chat, email, or over the phone.
- VSTAR Part 2 will focus on campus resources to support your transition to campus life.
You must complete VSTAR Part 1 before you can schedule a meeting and meet with your academic advisor. Students beginning classes in the summer must complete the VSTAR Part 1 Brightspace module and fill out their Student Information Form (SIF) by June 10, 2022. By completing this form, you will alert your college that you are ready to meet with an academic advisor. Academic advising timelines vary by academic college. Your academic advisor will send you an email to set up a time for your virtual advising appointment, so please continue to check your Purdue email regularly. Students are highly encouraged to finish VSTAR Part 1 and meet with their academic advisor as soon as possible. You can find additional details and a VSTAR timeline on the Orientation Programs website. Watch the short video below to learn more about VSTAR Part 1.
