Dear Boilermaker,

As your spring semester comes to a close, we want to recognize the many challenges you have overcome since beginning your time at Purdue entirely online. Because of your strong commitment to hard work and motivation to succeed, you are well-prepared to take the next steps in your journey as a Purdue student. We know your ultimate goal has been to arrive on Purdue’s campus. To support you in that transition, we invite you to participate in Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) and Boiler Gold Rush International (BGRi) 2021 in person this fall!

Even if you participated in a previous program online – such as BGR or BGRi in August 2020, Boiler Cold Rush in January 2021, or in VSTAR – this invitation is for you! This fall’s BGR and BGRi programs have been developed with your specific needs in mind. You have completed at least one semester as a Purdue student, so you already have a wealth of knowledge and experience at your command. Now, you will be able bring your background and personal experiences to campus to help strengthen the Purdue community.  BGR and BGRi will be your next step in building on-campus connections to further support your academic and social experience.

By participating in BGR or BGRi, you will:

  • be placed into a small group with other students who have completed at least one semester fully online
  • attend sessions specifically designed to help you make this unique transition to campus
  • have ample opportunities to build connections with a community of Purdue University students, staff, and faculty
  • be led by a current student Team Leader who has firsthand, on-campus experience
We are looking forward to finally meeting you in person this fall, and want to make sure you have the resources you need to make a successful transition to physical campus.

Please read this information carefully for more details about each program and how to register:

Boiler Gold Rush (BGR): BGR is our welcome week for all new undergraduate first-year, transfer students, and students who have not yet been to campus. You’ll learn about campus traditions and University resources. It’s also a great way to make lasting friendships and learn how to be a successful Boilermaker while gaining direct guidance from current Purdue students.

Boiler Gold Rush International ( BGRi ): All international students and domestic students with significant educational experience abroad are encouraged to also register for BGRi. This program is designed with international student needs in mind and will take place the same week as BGR. By registering for BGRi, you will gain access to international student programming. BGRi is at no additional cost with a valid BGR registration.

Dates: BGR and BGRi  will take place from Tuesday, Aug. 17, through Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021. If you are living in University Residences on-campus housing, move-in will begin the week prior to BGR. Please plan to arrive in time for the program.

Please note, if you are arriving to Purdue from outside the United States, you will be expected to complete a 7-day quarantine regardless of a negative COVID test result or vaccine record, prior to participating in on campus activities. Here is some information on the  Protect Purdue  pledge, which you will be expected to take in order to be on campus.

Cost: The cost to attend BGR is $320. This fee covers your move-in fee and all meals throughout the program. If you are in need of financial assistance, you can apply for a BGR fee waiver. We award half or full fee waivers to students with a demonstrated financial need. Please visit this BGR Fee Waiver Application to apply.

Registration: Registration for both BGR and  BGRi w ill close on July 31, 2021, so make sure to register on time!
