Dear Boilermaker, Purdue’s Orientation Programs team is here to help you experience a successful academic and social transition to Purdue! As a new student, you’ll be welcomed All Aboard Purdue via a four-step orientation process. Please read the following information carefully to learn more about our programs, some of which are required as part of your transition to Purdue this summer. Be sure to mark your calendar with important dates and deadlines.

Step 1: Purdue 101 Purdue 101 is Purdue’s required online orientation program for all new undergraduate students. This program will focus on preparing you for your academic journey while at Purdue. This takes place in Brightspace, which is where you’ll find your course information each semester.
You will be automatically enrolled in the Purdue 101 module and can log into Brightspace to complete this as early as May 2.

Step 2: Purdue Advising Once you have completed Purdue 101 and its action items, you will receive an email from an academic advisor about scheduling your first advising appointment. During this meeting, you will plan for your first semester courses and start to understand how you will work toward completing your degree! Academic Advising appointments will begin in May.

Step 3: Purdue 102 Purdue 102 is another required online orientation program for all new undergraduate students. This program will focus on preparing you for your social transition to campus and takes place in Brightspace, as well.
You will be automatically enrolled in the Purdue 102 module and can log into Brightspace to complete this as early as June 2.

Step 4: Purdue Welcome All new students are encouraged to participate in a Purdue Welcome program prior to the start of the Fall semester. Most students will participate in Boiler Gold Rush and Boiler Gold Rush International, although some students may alternatively participate in Bands, Purdue Musical Organizations, or Athletics programs.
- Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) is our welcome week program for all new undergraduate first-year and transfer students that occurs before classes begin in August. The majority of new students participate in BGR. Even though you’re beginning in the summer, we still encourage you to attend to meet students who are living near you and will be new to campus in the fall. There is a $320 fee to participate in BGR, and our office offers fee waivers for students with financial hardships. You can register and find fee waiver information on your New Student Task List in your myPurdue portal .
- Boiler Gold Rush International (BGRi) is our international student welcome week specifically designed to meet incoming international students’ unique needs. BGRi will take place immediately before BGR. International students are eligible to register for BGRi at no additional cost after registering for BGR. Domestic students who believe they may benefit from international student-specific programming may opt in to participate in BGRi as well.
- International parents and families are invited to participate in the International Parents Welcome virtual program by the International Students & Scholars office that takes place the same week. Registration is available on students’ New Student Task List in their myPurdue portal .
