Academic Advising and Course Planning

The mission of undergraduate advising at Purdue is to partner with students, faculty, staff, departments and administration to empower students to develop and implement an individualized plan for academic success, and personal and career development, while integrating learning and enrichment within the University and community, as well as assisting students in understanding the nature, purpose and value of higher education.

During STAR, students will receive academic advising to create their initial academic plan and prioritize course selections. Later in the day, students submit their course requests and preferences, identifying alternatives for individual selections where appropriate. Once STAR concludes in mid-July and after placement test results and advanced placement (AP) credits post, Purdue will create course schedules for all STAR and VSTAR participants to meet the greatest possible number of student priorities.
