Before You Arrive

Please note: The following information was created for BGR 2020. At this time, registration information for BGR 2021 is not available. Please continue to monitor your Purdue email and this website if you are expecting information regarding BGR 2021.

We are excited to have you joining us for Boiler Gold Rush 2020. Please know that even in this unprecedented time at Purdue University, we are still working to bring you the best experience possible. Before you arrive, you will want to read through and complete the items below. If you have any questions, please reach out to us with the contact form on our Home Page or call 765-494-9328.

Registering for BGR

Register for BGR via the myPurdue portal. If you are participating in BGR and/or BGRi in person,  your student account will be billed for the BGR in person program fee of $320 (you will not need to make an online payment at this time). Payment is due by July 31. Once you have registered and been billed for the program, you will receive a confirmation.

If you are participating in BGR and/or BGRi online because you are an online student in the fall, you will not be charged a fee. Your student record will let us know what BGR experience you will be participating so all you have to do is register.

Only students who have accepted their offer of admission to Purdue will be able to submit their BGR registration. The deadline for registering for BGR and BGRi is July 31st, though exceptions may be made afterwards in some cases.

Waivers and Scholarships

A limited number of need-based waivers are available to cover all or part of the in-person experience $320 fee. The link to the BGR Fee Waiver Application, and details on how to apply, can be found on the New Student Task List when a student accepts their offer to Purdue University. Students applying for the fee waiver must register for BGR for their application to be fully considered. The BGR Fee Waiver Application will close on July 31. Please note students that receive a waiver will see that waiver applied to their student account on or around July 23.

Refunds

If you request a refund before the cutoff date, you are eligible to receive your full refund. The refund schedule is as follows:

  • Through July 31: Full refund of $320
  • Aug. 1 and later: No refund

You must cancel your BGR registration to generate the refund or fee remission (in accordance with these dates). If you do not pay the registration fee at the time of registration and then cancel your BGR registration after the full refund date, you will still be responsible for the registration fee.

Protect Purdue Materials

This year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Purdue has institued its 'Protect Purdue' initiative to keep students and their families safe on campus. Before arriving on campus this Fall, students will be given prep materials orienting them to campus, including new COVID-19-related expectations, such as possible required health screenings and/or COVID-19 testing. Please be sure to read through these materials carefully, and follow the given advice.

If during your BGR experience you discover an unforeseen barrier to your participation, please alert your BGR team leader. We take accessibility seriously and welcome your input.
