The Pete Dye Clubhouse at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex<\/a> is receiving recognition for engineering excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly constructed clubhouse opened in April 2025, providing a modern space for golfers and community members. It is a two-story facility that features a retail shop, dining options, event space, locker rooms and golf cart storage. The clubhouse was made possible through a $20 million transformational gift by alums Sam and <\/a>Marsha Allen and delivered through a partnership between the Purdue Research Foundation and Physical Facilities, along with the city of West Lafayette for the reconstruction of Cherry Lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clubhouse was recently recognized by ACEC Indiana for the 2026 Engineering Excellence Awards in the Structural Systems category. The annual statewide awards recognize engineering projects for originality and innovation, technical value to the profession, social and economic considerations and project complexity. The clubhouse earned the Honor Award and was also selected as a finalist for the Grand Project Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wanted to focus our award entry on some of the unique structural framing solutions incorporated into the clubhouse, which presented some interesting challenges and opportunities but helped set the project apart.\u201d said Scott Swain, director of marketing for CE Solutions, the structural engineering firm that worked on the project. CE Solutions collaborated with RATIO Architects who served as the lead architect on the innovative project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cReceiving this engineering award is an honor and a reflection of the collaboration and forward thinking that went into the project,\u201d said Jay Wasson, vice president of Physical Facilities and chief public safety officer. \u201cWe\u2019re incredibly proud to see the project recognized, especially since the clubhouse is a place to gather and connect as the focal point of our world-renowned golf complex.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
