Those planning events for colleges, departments or student groups are encouraged to follow an emergency preparedness checklist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/emergency-preparedness\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/03\/Special-Event-Planning-Checklist-ACC.pdf\">Special Event Emergency Preparedness Checklist<\/a> is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/emergency-preparedness\/have-a-plan\/event-planning-safety-resources\/\">Event Planning Safety Resources webpage<\/a> on the Emergency Preparedness website. The checklist is a guide for event organizers to follow during the event planning process. It covers several topics, including security, weather and fire safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWith so many different events taking place on campus each year, having a consistent planning resource is important,\u201d said Jefferson Howells, director of Emergency Preparedness. \u201cThis checklist was created to help organizers prepare thoroughly and prioritize safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Office of Emergency Preparedness does not need to approve the checklist for each event, but event organizers should fill it out and consider it a valuable tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emergency Preparedness is part of the Administrative Operations organization. The organization supports the university by providing safe, reliable and transformative services. Providing planning resources to support safety during campus events is just one of the ways the organization helps power Purdue.
