The upgrade will improve storage performance, reliability and scalability while supporting Purdue\u2019s long-term technology needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Thursday, June 18, files from the following drives will be migrated to the storage environment (Qumulo).&nbsp;While drive letters will remain the same, the underlying server and drive names will change. <strong>Files will be unavailable for a few hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Drive<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Current Drive Name <\/strong><\/td><td><strong>New Drive Name <\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Time of Migration<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Date of Migration<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>L:\\<\/td><td>\\\\nas01.itap.purdue.edu\\dcs_pfapp<\/td><td>\\\\wl.mydata.purdue.edu\\ess_ao_app<\/td><td>10:00am<\/td><td>6\/18\/2026<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>G:\\<\/td><td>\\\\nas01.itap.purdue.edu\\dcs_pfproj<\/td><td>\\\\wl.mydata.purdue.edu\\ess_ao_proj<\/td><td>7:00pm<\/td><td>6\/18\/2026<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>K:\\<\/td><td>\\\\nas01.itap.purdue.edu\\dcs_pfproj\\archive<\/td><td>\\\\wl.mydata.purdue.edu\\ess_ao_proj\\archive<\/td><td>7:00pm<\/td><td>6\/18\/2026<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In most cases, user mapped drives will automatically adjust to the new server paths and share names.&nbsp;Drives that have been manually mapped will&nbsp;not&nbsp;automatically adjust.&nbsp;Those drives will need to reconnected manually, but with the new server and drive name.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UC4 jobs are being adjusted when shares are migrated. The Qumulo project team is preparing for those changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Action Needed Before June 18<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From your&nbsp;<strong>Support Assistant<\/strong>&nbsp;app on the desktop (icon below,) print\/capture the drives you currently have mapped, or click on the start menu, type CMD and open the Command Prompt app.&nbsp; At the command line prompt type \u201cnet use\u201d and hit enter.&nbsp;This will display a list of drive mappings that you can copy and paste into a file for reference.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"60\" height=\"89\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4791\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Disconnect any manually mapped drives&nbsp;prior&nbsp;to the migration. Not doing so may negatively impact a user\u2019s machine and require assistance from the IT service desk to correct.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If applications, scripts, documents or shortcuts reference the old server paths directly, they may need to be updated after the migration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applications that use the full server path will need to be updated to point to the new location.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Documents that reference files using drive letters (such as O:\\ or U:) generally should not require any changes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UC4 jobs are being updated as part of the migration process by the Qumulo project team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please ensure to restart your system following the migration.
