Purdue University is deeply saddened to share news of the recent passing of Jesse Moore, the university\u2019s first and former director of supplier diversity. His guidance, vision and dedication during his 13-year Boilermaker career left a lasting mark on our institution and communities across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon joining the Purdue family in 2005 and continuing through his retirement in June 2018, Moore played a pivotal role in creating and successfully managing the university\u2019s inaugural supplier diversity program. A true trailblazer, he built the program from the ground up and established a strong foundation that continues to influence our work today. His commitment to expanding opportunities for diverse firms was evident in forging meaningful statewide partnerships and advocating for inclusive business practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout Moore\u2019s career, he and Purdue\u2019s supplier diversity department earned numerous awards in recognition of his leadership, advocacy and program successes. Among his many accomplishments, Moore was honored in 2017 with the Sagamore of the Wabash, one of Indiana\u2019s highest distinctions granted by the governor, for his exceptional service to the state and long history of championing diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moore brought many years of knowledge and experience to his role at Purdue with deep-seated roots in economic development, diverse business advocacy, strategic planning, community involvement and public policy. He demonstrated a vast understanding of initiatives, environments, operations and stakeholders with his career spanning public and private sectors and non-profits.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moore will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments \u2013 but also for his warmth, integrity and steadfast belief in the power of opportunity. His work opened doors for countless businesses and strengthened the university\u2019s engagement with diverse communities throughout Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
