Tests of the PurdueALERT emergency warning notification system<\/a> are scheduled for Friday, Jan. 30 at both the West Lafayette and Indianapolis locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

West Lafayette<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the West Lafayette location, the test will occur at 10:15 a.m. It will include text messaging, email, digital signs, desktop pop-up alerts, BoilerTV updates and X updates. Please note that the X handle recently changed from @purdueemergency to @PurdueALERT. The Campus Emergency Status webpage<\/a> will be updated in the event of an actual emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The all-hazards outdoor emergency warning sirens will not be activated for this test. During an actual emergency, the sirens will sound to indicate the need to immediately seek shelter in the nearest building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indianapolis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The test for Indianapolis will occur at 10:30 a.m. and include text messaging, email, desktop pop-up alerts and X updates. The Campus Emergency Status webpage<\/a> will also be updated for the Indianapolis location in the event of an actual emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue Polytechnic Institute Locations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A test for CampusALERT will also be conducted at all Purdue Polytechnic Institute locations at 2 p.m. on Jan. 30 and will include an email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe university is proactive in testing the PurdueALERT system as this will be the first  test for the spring semester with a statewide severe weather drill occurring in early March\u201d explained Jefferson Howells, director of Emergency Preparedness. \u201cIt is critical that campus community members at each location know how to respond in the event of an actual emergency. Being prepared and knowledgeable can potentially save lives and minimize injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to sign up<\/a> for emergency text message notifications. Individuals may register up to three numbers to receive notifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
