Defining leadership competencies is a key component of Administrative Operations\u2019 (AO) five-part talent management strategy.<\/p>\n\n                    <\/div>\n                \n                            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"image\">\n                            <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/intranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/2024_KAL_6999_copy.jpg\"\/>\n                    <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"section \">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n                \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AO&#8217;s Leadership Competencies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:20px\">AO has identified&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/intranet\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/leadership-competencies.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leadership competencies (pdf.)<\/a>, which include the knowledge, skills and attitudes that an individual possesses that lead to successful performance. Identified competencies are incorporated into work profiles, and competency attainment is woven into annual performance expectations for supervisors, beginning with the start of the current performance management cycle. AO\u2019s talent management strategy is focused on five areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>Attracting talented employees<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\">Advertise career development opportunities that create a workplace that is attractive to the type of candidates AO needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>Selecting the right employees for the job<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\">Enable managers to make better selection and hiring decisions to ensure that people with the right competencies are onboarded in the right positions at the right time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>Engaging employees with the business culture<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\">Connect employees by linking personal achievement to organizational success<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>Developing employees through professional growth<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\">Target training and development investments in programs tailored to individual employees and organizational needs, which will reinforce succession planning processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>Retaining valuable employees<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:20px\">Create a foundation based on AO\u2019s purpose, principles and values for retention, along with succession planning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:20px\">AO\u2019s Leadership Competencies will play a particularly important role in retention, engagement and development of employees.
