{"id":845,"date":"2026-02-11T18:41:04","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T18:41:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/campus-mobility\/?page_id=845"},"modified":"2026-03-04T15:34:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T15:34:58","slug":"safe-ride-lyft","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/campus-mobility\/home\/safe-ride-lyft\/","title":{"rendered":"Safe Ride with Lyft"},"content":{"rendered":"\n    <div  class=\"purdue-home-diagonal-hero has-gray-background\">\n        <div class=\"section has-padding-top-large has-padding-bottom-large\">\n            <div class=\"purdue-home-diagonal-hero__content\">\n                \n                                                        <h1 class=\"second-level-page-heading purdue-home-diagonal-hero__header\">Safe Ride With Lyft<\/h1>\n                \n                                    <div class=\"purdue-home-diagonal-hero__subtext\">\n\n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A new safe ride pilot program with Lyft is available to Purdue students in Indianapolis. <\/p>\n\n                    <\/div>\n                \n                            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"image\">\n                            <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/campus-mobility\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2026\/02\/AdobeStock_330838411.jpeg\"\/>\n                    <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n<div  class=\"section \">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n                \n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns page-layout-columns columns is-multiline is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column column is-full-tablet page-layout-main is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Destinations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lyft will provide students with rides to and from designated locations within a defined service area around the Purdue Indianapolis campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Primary Geo-Fenced Service Area<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The primary service area includes the block bounded by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Walnut Street (north)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street (east)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New York Street (south)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Barnhill Drive (west)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IU Health University Hospital, located within this boundary, is included as a designated pickup and drop-off location at the east side entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Designated Pickup and Drop-Off Locations (Outside the Geo-Fenced Boundary)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following locations are outside the primary geo-fenced area but are included as designated pickup and drop-off points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>LUX on Capitol \u2013 East side entrance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IU Health Clinic \u2013 West side entrance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student Center \u2013 Within a one-block radius of the building<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eskenazi Hospital \u2013 East side entrance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Institute of Fitness and Sport (NIFS) \u2013 Northeast corner entrance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The service operates seven days a week from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. during the pilot period, which runs through May 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/campus-mobility\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2026\/02\/Indianapolis-Map-Campus-Revised-V5-Safe-Ride-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/operations\/campus-mobility\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2026\/02\/Indianapolis-Map-Campus-Revised-V5-Safe-Ride-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Map of Lyft Safe Ride service area at Purdue Indianapolis showing a geo-fenced campus area bounded by Walnut Street (north), Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street (east), New York Street (south), and Barnhill Drive (west). The credits are only usable within the outlined geo-fenced areas on the map. Students may also share rides with other eligible riders to maximize the value of each credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once a student is signed up for the program, a pass will be reflected in the \u2018Payment\u2019 tab of the Lyft app and will automatically apply to any eligible rides. If a ride is not eligible, a discount will not be shown on the ride confirmation screen.
